Consideration of healthy MV busbar feeders in the service restoration of distribution networks

The service restoration application for severe power outages involving the consideration of the healthy medium voltage (MV) busbar feeders of the HV/MV substation in de-energised area is presented in this paper. The MV busbar feeders consideration is achieved by introducing additional coefficient to the heuristic graph-based service restoration algorithm. Minimisation of unsupplied load is the primary objective of the proposed service restoration application. Secondary objective is the reduction of the number of switching actions. The proposed approach involves the assignment of the weighting coefficients de-energised distribution network branches. The consideration of the healthy MV busbars feeders significantly improves the service restoration algorithm performance.
