THE REACT COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR THE ECONOMIC EVALUATION OF SHORT-TERM REHABILITATION ACTIONS

This paper presents the REACT program for the economic evaluation of short-term rehabilitation actions. The program represents a methodology that utilises stochastic methods and the knowledge and experience of the engineer to analyse the economic implications of various short-term and alternative rehabilitation actions, by modelling their effect on the deterioration of a pavement. The concepts of probable present worth of costs and Bayesian decision trees are introduced. The reasoning behind the construction of a decision tree is explained in some detail, and the interpretation of the results of the calculations is also covered.
