A NEW ADAPTIVE DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION ALGORITHM FOR VOLTAGE STABILITY CONSTRAINED OPTIMAL POWER FLOW

This paper presents a new adaptive differential evolution algorithm namely JADE-vPS for the voltage stability constrained optimal power flow (VSCOPF) problem. The active and reactive power dispatch problems are solved in a single step. The objective is to minimize the total fuel cost while taking security and voltage stability constraints into consideration. VSCOPF is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem. The proposed JADE-vPS algorithm eliminates the common task of users in tuning control parameters before commencing the optimization process. Simulations were carried out on IEEE-30 bus system. Results of JADE-vPS are compared with few other differential evolution algorithms. It is shown that JADE-vPS is a convenient and powerful optimization algorithm to handle VSCOPF.
