On energy gain of fusion targets: the model of Kidder and Bodner improved

The model of Kidder and Bodner for the energy gain of ICF targets has been improved at a key point by assuming uniform pressure over the DT fuel at ignition as suggested by code simulations and self-similar shell implosions. This leads to gain curves which compare well with Livermore code predictions and allow a simple physical interpretation. Scaling relations for limiting gain curves are discussed.
