LOCATION OF NEUTRON SINGLE-PARTICLE LEVELS FROM STRIPPING REACTIONS

A stripping process, for example (d,p), is extremely useful in the study of the single-particle states of the nuclear shell model. Two of the simplest experimental measurements, the cross sections for excitation of the various states of the final nucleus and the angular distributions of the proton groups corresponding to these states, give essentially all of the pertinent information.
