Comparison of alternative algorithms to select pilot buses for secondary voltage control in electric power networks

Power system secondary voltage control determines control actions based upon reference voltage values set for certain load buses called pilot buses. A key factor for the appropriate functioning of secondary voltage control schemes is the selection of those pilot buses. This paper describes and compares different methods to select the pilot buses. A case study based on the IEEE 118-bus system is provided.<<ETX>>
