Research on Selection Differences Between Parent and Child on Toys

As the living standard is significantly improved due to economic development, more and more parents have reached the consensus on giving children happy childhood. Toys have become an important growth partner for children nowadays. Can the children be satisfied from the selective purchase behavior led by parents? Whether the parents’ selection is consistent with the children’s expectation becomes a topic for discussion. This research is one of the series of researches on the toy interest. This paper collects the preference information of parents and children on toys by the questionnaire, compares, quantitatively analyzes and learns about reasons resulted in the differences between parents and children in the toy selection. It is found in the research that: (1) there are differences between parents and children in the toy selection; (2) parents with different education backgrounds have different requirements on toys; (3) boys and girls have different selection on toys due to the genders; (4) parents will select different toys for children with different genders; (5) parents’ acuity on new and old toys is low. The research result can provide toy manufacturers with preference information of parents and children on toys and provide parents with suggestions on the toy selection.
