Quality of service control in access networks based on Virtual Private LAN Services in a wide area Gigabit Ethernet optical test bed

We report an experimental investigation about the virtual private LAN Service technique to guarantee the Quality of Service in the access also when a bandwidth bottleneck is present as in the case of twisted pair links with xDSL systems. The tests were performed in a generalized multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) test bed with Gigabit Ethernet(GbE) core routers linked with long (tens of kilometres) GbE G.652 fiber links, including accesses based on ADSL2+ systems.
