Beyond the discourse

The conversations in the literature explored in the previous chapters reveal the difficulties and challenges faced by those light-skinned or dislocated Aboriginal people without a community history narrative. In particular, those who discover a submerged Aboriginal connection in their family history, and who wish to explore it and re-establish membership of the Aboriginal collective, find themselves traversing a complex terrain. These difficulties are also noted in the ongoing legal interpretations about who is Aboriginal and what constitutes the criteria of the three-part definition.
