Application of an existing approach to refocusing maritime moving targets on Radarsat-2 SLC images

Advanced synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging systems provide high-resolution images for a number of applications in maritime surveillance. However, the relative movement between the radar and the moving target will cause defocusing phenomenon, leading to decreasing image resolution. In this paper, we adopt an existing approach to refocus ship targets starting from formed Single Look Complex (SLC) SAR images. Refocused images are obtained by applying inversion mapping and ISAR processing. The refocusing results on the use of RADARSAT-2 SLC images prove the effectiveness of the method.
