The method of maximum likelihood is employed to estimate the binomial parameter p whenever an erroneous observation or report results in recording c defective samples when there are actually c + 1. The proportion of such erroneous observations is also estimated, and asymptotic variances and covariances of the estimates are obtained. A numerical example is included.
