DYMOS (Dynamic MOnitoring System): Monitoring and real time fault diagnosis system for a ship's propelling plant

DYMOS is an addition to the IHI Ship Administration System. It is an application-intelligent operation monitoring and real time fault diagnosis system. DYMOS is said to be capable of identifying the location and cause of trouble in the ship's propulsion plant and of drawing the operator's attention to this. The type of information given by DYMOS facilitates the selection of a solution to the problem. The first commercial unit was installed on the COSMO VENUS, a VLCC completed in November 1986 for the Kyoei Tanker Co. Ltd. of Tokyo.
