공동주택 발코니 공간의 효율적 활용방안 연구

The balcony of the apartment is the only mediating space that connects the interior and exterior of the building. Therefore, it is important as a supplementary space, as well as a functional space for ventilation, lighting, and view. In Korea, the balcony of an apartment originated from "an open-air platform" without sash, and has been broadly expanded since the 1990's. In December 2005, the construction law that allowed for the structural modification of the balcony took effect and housing construction companies are now using the balcony space for various plane developments as a strategy of housing commercialization. According to this change, the balcony is significant as a supplementary space, rather than a service space. Thus, this study redefines the function and role of the balcony space in order to actively respond to its changes in use. In addition, the plan we propose provides for utilizing balcony space efficiently in terms of the functional, scenic, and safety aspects, based on the analysis of the results of the preceding research and field survey.
