Patron response to and success in using six Wilsondisc bib liographic databases and the Info Trac General Periodicals In dex were studied. The perceived need for training and satis faction with using the systems were measured. Patrons were asked if a CD-ROM is easy to use, if they found some information on a topic, if their searches were successful, if training or assistance were required, and if they preferred CD-ROM or print reference tools. Patrons like to use CD ROMs but are uncertain about their success in using these systems. Also, patrons input more search statements and felt they had more failures when using Info Trac than when using the Wilsondisc systems.
