Motivation in Construction: A Review

The contribution of the reviewed literature to our knowledge of the motivation of construction workers is minimal. It must be concluded that the work examined is the state of knowledge of construction worker motivation, that it is conceptually and theoretically lacking, and that the empirical work suffers from sever theoretical flaws. Because of the importance of this area to the construction industry and, subsequently to the American public, it is imperative that a rigorous program be undertaken to increase our knowledge. The first step in any research is to develop a conceptual and theoretical model.
