Virtual joystick system for controlling the operation of a security camera and controlling method thereof

PURPOSE: A virtual joystick system and a control method thereof are provided to allow a user to enjoy the effect of operating a virtual joystick by controlling movement of a camera in a real time basis while carefully watching the image of an object on a computer monitor. CONSTITUTION: A section is selected from a region where an image taken by a camera is displayed. The section is divided into a plurality of segments(200 to 207) having the same center angles centering from a reference point(301) in the section. When an operator moves a mouse(400) such that a cursor(300) is disposed in a first segment, and the mouse is clicked so as to drag the cursor to a second segment, position coordinates of the cursor are recognized. The camera is collimated in the radiation direction represented by the first segment, and rotated in the radiation direction represented by the second segment. The collimating direction of the camera changes in accordance with the movement of the cursor in the selected section on a computer monitor(30).
