Optical Properties, Thermochromism and Crystal Structure of Picric Acid-l,5-Diaminonaphthalene Salt

Abstract The crystal structure of the 2:1 salt of picric acid with 1,5-diaminonaphthalene has been determined by the X-ray diffraction method. The crystals of the salt have the yellow green form. The crystals exhibit the thermochromism at about 110°C. This phenomenon was studied by measuring the temperature dependence of the IR absorption spectra of the crystals of the salt of picric acid with 1,5-diaminonaphthalene and the deutrated salt.
