Abstract In contrast to earlier results with a strain of S. pombe, three other strains show an S period at the end of the cycle in synchronous cultures. The approximate lengths of G1, S and G2 are 0.2, 0.1 and 0.7 of the cycle. There is a delay between the S period and the rise in potential (inducibility) of sucrase and maltase.
