Synthesis of volatile, fluorinated β-ketoiminato copper(I) complexes

The fluorinated β-ketoimines, 4-(alkyl)imino-1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoropentan-2-one, where alkly = isopropyl 3 or trifluoroethyl 6, have been obtained in high yield from the reaction of a silyl ether of hexafluoroacetylacetone with isopropylamine and trifluoroethylamine, respectively, and used to prepare volatile, monomeric copper(I)β-ketoiminate complexes.
