Antenna and tracking system for land vehicles on satellite communications

An antenna system for L-band (1.6/1.5 GHz) land mobile satellite communications is presented. The antenna system includes both a phased array antenna and an open-loop tracking method using a geomagnetic sensor and an optical fiber gyro (OFG). Results of field experiments using the Engineering Test Satellite Five proved that the antenna system has practical commercial land mobile applications for satellite communications.<<ETX>>
