An audit of extra-uterine pregnancy in a tertiary care facility in Northern India

Ectopic pregnancy, the implantation of a fertilized ovum outside the uterine cavity, is one of the most common life threatening surgical gynecological emergency occurring across all races, countries and socio-economic class of women during the reproductive years. It accounts for 2% of all pregnancies. It remains the leading cause (9%) of pregnancy-related first trimester deaths worldwide. Prompt diagnosis has furthered to a decline in associated morbidity.
