Content-addressable and associative memory: alternatives to the ubiquitous RAM

Content-addressable and associative processing systems are explained, and it is shown that such systems are commercially feasible. Content-based archiving and retrieving are compared with address-based storage methods. The principles, advantages and obstacles of content-addressable storage are examined and associative processing methods and architectures are described. Software for associative systems is also discussed.<<ETX>>
