Bilinear adaptive controller for multimachine power system stability

The problem of multimachine power system stabilization with a single series capacitor controller is addressed. When controlled by the global series capacitor, each machine can be modeled for adaptive purposes by a discrete bilinear time-series model. Using real-time measurements, the coefficients of these models can be identified recursively. The design of an adaptive one-step-ahead controller for the multimachine system is discussed. In the context of the one-step-ahead controller, local and global controllers are designed. Simulation results showing the damping afforded by the proposed adaptive controllers are presented.<<ETX>>
