A CASE OF CHILDHOOD BREAST CARCINOMA

Childhood breast carcinoma has rarely been reported in Japan: Only 18 cases have been reported, including one we experienced. We report a recent experience with a typical secretory carcinoma in a 13-year-old girl. She was treated with standard radical mastectomy alone in consideration of possible future pregnancy and childbearing. Postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy was not given. The characteristics and prognosis of childhood breast carcinoma are not well understood. It seems likely, therefore, that the selection of a therapeutic modality will required more deliberate evaluation in the future.
