Some microcomputer applications in acoustics

Abstract A microcomputer-based system has been developed for use in experimental work in acoustics. A standard low cost microcomputer is used to interact with a variety of equipment to provide automatic facilities for (i) controlling experimental conditions; (ii) automatic data acquisition and storage; (iii) data display and (iv) data transfer to mainframe systems. The system described was designed for a specific project concerned with the influence of meteorological conditions upon barrier performance. The techniques used are, however, of general relevance and are described in detail.
