Knowledge modeling in construction of technical management system for large warehousing facilities

Abstract The article discusses the problem of technical management of large warehousing facilities from the aspect of construction of a decision-making supporting system or, strictly speaking, acquisition of the necessary knowledge as a resource of such a system. The article presents the standard procedures that are in force in Poland concerning technical maintenance of building structures and the tools taking the form of dedicated systems. Data and knowledge are important elements of such systems. The principal part of the article focuses on the problem of knowledge acquisition using automated methods and describes the concept and the possibilities concerning the construction of a system supporting management of large warehousing facilities. The realization of a decision-making supporting system for large warehousing facilities management creates a chance in practical area on simplification and reduction of the work of facility manager. Successful applying of the intelligent system based on knowledge and working based on automated methods of knowledge acquisition determine essential contribution to the development subject fields of knowledge engineering, management and civil engineering.
