Improving ADC resolution through the least square estimation

This paper proposes a method to improve the resolution of analog to digital (AD) conversion, which is based on the least square estimate method on the AD sampling data. Our method is realized by the software processing, and it provides a way to obtain higher resolution data of the sampling signals with the fixed hardware cost. It is suitable for processing the signal with some types of noises with stable statistical characteristics, and the signal should be of slower variation comparing with the sampling rate. This method has been applied on the measurement system of the magnetic localization system for the robotic wireless capsule, and the results show it feasible for it to be realized to the improvement resolution of the measurement system.
