A single-feed arrow-shaped circularly polarized antenna with unbalanced slotted artificial magnetic conductor for GNSS application

In this paper, a single-feed arrow-shaped circularly polarized (CP) antenna is presented for GNSS application. Two orthogonally placed dipoles connected by phase delay lines are printed on both sides of a substrate to realize circular polarization. Further, an unbalanced slotted artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) is proposed to reduce profile of the antenna, enhance impedance bandwidth and CP bandwidth. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed antenna has a wide impedance matching band from 1.12GHz to 1.62GHz (36.4%), and a wide 3-dB axial ratio (AR) band from 1.17GHz to 1.577GHz (29.6%), which can cover B1, B2, B3 of BDS and L1, L2, L5 of GPS.
