Fast Global Motion Estimation via Modified ILSE Method

This paper presents a Modified ILSE technique for gl obal motion estimation where Gradient Threshol ding ( GT) is used to anal y z e and preprocess the image bl ocks before motion estimation. By means of GT, treacherous bl ocks that are more l ikel y to produce inaccurate motion estimations are identified at the beginning and discarded from the fol l owing process. So, the computational cost is reduced to a great extent comparing to the traditional method. Furthermore, a method for the sel ection of threshol d is al so presented which adapt the threshol d to different ty pes of images. The presented method has been tested on a variety of image sequences, and experimental resul ts il l ustrate its promising performance.
