Bio matrices and bio composites.

Considering the growing quantities of waste, fossil fuel reserve limits and growing crude oil prices, manufacturers of materials based on petrochemical products increasingly research the possibilities of manufacturing materials from renewable sources. Researchers’ efforts are currently focused on developing new ecologically acceptable materials, made by combining natural fillers with polymers synthesised from bio raw materials (bio matrices). Those materials are called bio composites. In bio composite materials with bio matrices strengthen by natural fillers, traditional polymer properties (small weight and easy processing) are combined with selective metal properties ( high strength and toughness), which results in favourable physically-mechanical and thermal properties ; that is in higher biological resistance in comparison to conventional polymer materials based on oil. Developing of bio composite materials results in great number of possibilities of obtaining composites with different properties, thus shaping versatile final product types of innovative design. Great number of scientific papers and general information about properties and synthesis possibilities of bio matrices, together with information about manufacturing bio composite materials demands systematic overview of current findings ; and that is exact objective of this paper.
