Application and Practice of Underwater Vacuum Preloading Technique in High-Piled Wharf Revetment Structure Project

In the planned wharf project of Tianjin Port Sinochem Petrochemical Dock, there was only 50 m from the front line of the planned wharf to axis of the existing revetment;therefore,if conventional structure connecting shore design proposal is applied,it would cause high project investment and long construction period.Through argumentation, underwater vacuum preloading technique was applied to strengthen the soil mass of high-piled wharf shore-slope area, and to optimize link-bank structure design, which achieved practical success.Incorporated with application of underwater vacuum preloading technique in the planned wharf project of Tianjin Port Sinochem Petrochemical Dock, this paper summarizes the experiences about the design and application for shore-bank of high-piled wharf under the situation of narrow pile-supported platform and it may provide a useful reference for the future relevant construction project.
