Estimating reception reliability in cellular mobile radio systems

Outage probability calculations are used to estimate the reliability of reception in narrowband mobile radio systems. The use of reception reliability in the analysis of cellular systems is discussed briefly, and an outage probability expression for the multiple interferer mobile radio situation where signals suffer both Rayleigh fading and lognormal shadowing is presented. Diversity reception can be used to improve reception reliability and S+I selection diversity reception is considered as a means of reducing outage due to noise and cochannel interference.<<ETX>>
