M-BOOKSTORE: ENHANCED SEARCH FUNCTION FOR UBIQUITOUS ACCESS

Mobile technologies and computing are evolving and expanding each day, demanding and creating a much more ubiquitous computing environment. This paper proposes the enhanced mobile search function applied in the Mobile Bookstore (m-Bookstore) application – a mobile solution for bookstore businesses. The m-Bookstore is focusing to address the four issues in the existing business environment, which are the geographical issue, the advancing mobile technologies application in business, ubiquitous demands in computing and demanding bookstore information requests. In this paper, the issue that will be addressed is the demanding bookstore information request. With m-Bookstore, booksellers can reach out to more customers, anywhere and everywhere using mobile devices. This concept allows for a more ubiquitous business and computing environment. Major bookstores need to compete and to be on top, implementing the latest technologies to serve its customers, and the mobile technology is one that should be taken advantage of. Browsing the large databases of a bookstore can be time-consuming and difficult using expensive kiosks that come in limited numbers. A wireless environment can create wireless networks allowing those with mobile devices to browse through the bookstore database with ease. In this paper, the proposed enhanced mobile search function that being developed and implemented is discussed. The result of this research project is the software solution, a system (m-Bookstore), which consists of the enhanced mobile search function suited for mobile and ubiquitous environment.
