Corrosion inhibition by self assembling nano films

Abstract When metals come in contact with moisture and air, they release electron and become metallic ion. This process is known as corrosion, which is a spontaneous, natural process leading metal to a stable state. Corrosion can be controlled by several methods. One method is the use of inhibitors. Some inhibitors, under certain conditions, self-assemble and forms monolayer. There is increase in hydrophobicity and corrosion inhibition efficiency. The use of sodium dodecyl sulfate, an anionic surfactant, as a case study is discussed.
