Research on Channel Estimation and Time Domain Equalization for Gbps IR-UWB Wireless Receiver in Wearable Devices

Inter-symbol interference is the major problem in ultra-wideband high-speed wireless communication systems. To tackle above issue, a method for estimating the initial value of equalizer taps’ coefficients using time domain channel estimation is proposed to accelerate the convergence of the adaptive equalizer and save a large amount of effort for calculation. A simulation platform is established to verify the validity and performance of the method. The computational complexity of the proposed algorithm is equivalent to 18.8% of that in multi-carrier OFDM technology. The proposed method compared to traditional methods effectively reduces the bits of the training sequence by more than 35.8%, and achieves a 1. 7dB improvement in the final signal to noise ratio performance. Finally, the degradation of BER caused by the channel noise is analyzed and discussed. Detailed datasets and curves are presented for implementation and optimization as a guidance of this method.
