User Information in Concepting

A user-centred approach has been widely acknowledged to be one of the cornerstones of successful npd. A product that is useful, usable and desirable for the user needs to fulfil certain requirements. It must have the necessary practical features for completing a set of tasks, it must be easy to operate and support the user’s objectives, it must correspond with the user’s values and with the environment where it will be located, and it may even be part of the message that the user wants to convey about his or her personality, by emphasising a certain status, ideological standpoint or professional image. In addition to all this, the product has to stand out from the competition and it needs to be able to convince and attract possible customers at the point of sale.
