New Structure of Two-Dimensional Position Sensitive Semiconductor Detector and Application

An improved silicon position sensitive detector (PSD) for electron detection has been developed which may have additional application including high energy particle detection as well as light beam detection. The improved PSD device characteristics and construction is presented with a review of other conventional two-dimensional PSDs. A photon counting detector (so-called MCP-PSD tube) is utilized as an application example.
