Developing new search pattern in fast motion estimation algorithm used for compress a video

Abstract Due to rapid growing of digital video, it was very complicated task for storing, processing and transferring a sequence of video. Motion Estimation (ME) is a primary tool for video compression. This paper comprises new pattern i.e. rectangular search pattern used in place of diamond search pattern in block-based motion estimation algorithm. The performance can be measured in terms of number of points searching in searching area per macro-block and quality of video by using PSNR value.
