R-peak detection of ECG using adaptive thresholding

Electrocardiography plays a vital role in detection and diagnosis of the heart diseases. In this piece of work, we have developed a new thresholding technique based on the maximum and minimum values of ECG signal. The initial threshold is calculated from the RMS values of the transformed signal, whereas the threshold is made to decrease with an adaptively calculated step size. The simulation results show a potentiality of the proposed algorithm as it reduces the effect of noises and abnormal T and P peaks of the ECG signal.
