Dynamic Voltage Restorer Based on Multilevel Current Source Inverters

Multilevel inverters have been succesfully introduced in a wide variety of problems related to electrical power processing. Nowadays, the main concerns are the flexible management of energy delivered by renewable sources and also the improvement of power quality in distribution networks. FACTS devices provide solutions against disturbances on voltage waveform parameters, namely amplitude, distortion, frequency, etc. that impact negatively on production lines and critical loads. In this work, a dynamic voltage restorer which is based on a multilevel current source topology is presented. The internal converter control is described and two strategies for voltage compensation are analyzed. Simulation results are presented to verify the characteristics of both compensation methods.
