An Analysis of Battery Demand Capacity of Wind / Storage System and Control of State of Charge

Based on the control of battery smoothing output with wind power prediction, the calculation method for battery demand capacity is discussed in this paper. And the battery demand capacity based on the wind power prediction is compared with that in the situation without the wind power prediction. By analyzing the characteristics of power output and load fluctuation of the wind farm, based on day-ahead wind power prediction and load prediction, the state of charge (SOC) optimization model is established, and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to solve the model. According to the analysis of examples, the reference index is obviously improved through the optimization. Finally, a battery control strategy based on ultra-short-term predicted wind power correction is proposed, the effectiveness and feasibility of this method is verified by the actual wind power output data and simulation results with PSCAD.
