Multi‐skilled and multi‐faceted: a comparative survey of UK and Australian information systems and technology professionals

A comparative study of over 250 UK and Australian information systems and technology (IS/IT) managers and professionals reported in this paper shows that the Australian contingent exhibit a greater capability for being multi-skilled and multi-faceted than their UK counterparts. The IS/IT function is greater represented on the boards of UK companies than Australian companies. Both groups display a substantial capacity for working across matrix structures, driving through change and influencing line management on how to best utilise information systems in the enterprise.
