Robustness properties of sampled-data systems with dead time compensators

Abstract Dead Time Compensators are commonly implemented on digital equipment. All the analyses done to date, however, treat the analogue cases only. In this paper the special properties of sampled-data systems incorporating digital Dead Time Compensators are investigated. It is shown that while some of the results for the discrete case are analogous to the continuous cases, there are properties unique to sampled-data systems which provide more stability conditions with tighter bounds. In particular, systems with digital Dead Time Compensators are shown to be always practically stable.
