THE JAERI-KEK JOINT PROJECT FOR THE HIGH-INTENSITY PROTON ACCELERATOR, J-PARC

The J-PARC project comprises a 400-MeV linac a 3GeV. I-MW rapickycling synchrotron (RCS), a 5OGeV main ring (MR), and experimental facilities using the 3and 50GeV beams. The J-PARC facility is un&r COnStNCtiOn to he completed by March 2007. The J-PARC accelerators are based upon many newly Bveloped technologies, includng the RF system using the cavities loa*id with the magnetic alloy. (MA) and the linac mmponents such as the RFQ linac with n-mod? stabilizing loops (PISL's), the RF choppers, andothen in order to realize their high heam powers. The recent results of the Bvelopments of these new technologies and the present status of the construction are reported
