The knocking is one of major parameters to improve engine performance in a spark ignition engine. Many researches have been carried out to identify them using cylinder pressure, vibration signal and so on.
In the present study, measurement and analysis were conducted to set up the criteria of knock occurrence by using acceleration signal. Cylinder pressure was measured for the reference signal of knocking.
Vibration signal knock detection is dependent of engine operating condition. Therefore, it is necessary to determine knock threshold value by using reference such pressure cylinder. A new algorithm is proposed for knock threshold value determination without pre-test. This algorithm is based on statistical analysis of experimental data. The results show that knock threshold value becomes nearly constant value and is independent of engine operating conditions.
