Comparison of surface electric field and impedance matrix elements of layered media between electric field spatial green's function and mixed potential

Recently an approach based on half-space extraction technique was used to efficiently evaluate the electric field spatial Green's function on a surface. This Letter compares the results of this method with the mixed-potential formulation in spatial domain. Both surface electric fields and impedance matrix elements for layered media are compared for source and observation-point distances ranging from 0.1 free-space wavelengths to 10 free-space wavelengths. The results show two orders of magnitude improvement on the speed of convergence for Sommerfeld integration domain and better numerical stability. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
