Cloud Based Framework for IIOT Application with Asset Management

Asset Management is an essential task for every industry. Keeping track of assets manually is a monotonous and time consuming task which is also error prone. Integrating asset management with IoT can automate it to a large extent. Proper management of assets can boost the company’s productivity. With the advancements in the field of IoT, tasks like tracking location of assets, managing asset’s parameters can be done with ease. The available solutions to Asset Management use Active or Passive Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) tags. These solutions have disadvantages like need of high and continuous battery power and are applicable only for small distances (up to 100m). Usage of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Tags can overcome these problems. The data from sensor nodes can be sent to a cloud based central repository through message queuing telemetry transport (MQTT) protocol and then it can be further analyzed. This data can be visualized and managed through a web application. The motivation for automating and improving current asset management solution has paved the way for a new architecture. This paper provides a detailed run down on that architecture and how it can be deployed for real time application.
