Negative electric fields in mist and fog

Abstract The investigation, with transportable apparatus, of the occurrence of negative electric fields during periods of mist and fog has shown that the effect must be ascribed to the emission of an excess of negative ions from overhead high tension power cables in damp conditions, probably during discharges over the insulators.
