Blind equalization for 256-QAM CATV networks

Digital video broadcasting (DVB) allows digital television transmission using traditional channels like satellite, terrestrial and cable network. This paper discusses high-rate data transmission in cable networks according to the European Standard EN 300429 on cable transmission of DVB using blind equalization. Investigations are focused on 255-QAM as an extension to standardized 64-QAM for enlarged capacity. This paper gives an overview and discusses blind equalization in the presence of real system implementation like non-ideal demodulation and phase noise, where the Benveniste-Goursat algorithm is used as a Bussgang type equalizer.
