Towards the Achievement of Natural Interaction

The expansion of Information Technologies brings the need for systems providing Human-Computer Interaction which does not require previous technological training for users. Following this line, Natural Interaction (NI) research works aim at imitating human interactive behavior, as a well-known paradigm for every user. This work presents a complete Cognitive Architecture for Natural Interaction, focusing on two of its main components: Dialogue Management and Circumstance Modeling. First, through the description of the Threads Model, an Intentional Processing Dialogue Model that has been applied in several national and international research projects. Second, a Situation Model is introduced focusing on the material aspect of circumstance and supported by the Spatio-Temporal Databases paradigm. Finally, a description about the current implementation of the interaction system based on this proposal is provided.
